Pennridge's dream season will last at least another week, as they are assured of a bid to national regionals. Not only that, but they also find themselves with a spot in the championship round of the state tournament, they can finish no worse than second.
Things didn't look good early for the Region 2 champions, they jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but quickly squandered that margin. Boyertown loaded the bases with nobody out and eventually got three runs. Pennridge's starter settled down and ended up pitching a complete game, keeping the Bears off balance for much of the night.
Pennridge chipped away with a run here and there, taking advantage of an over-aggressive base running attack by Boyertown. The Bears had two runners thrown out in one inning on the basepaths, one at third and another at home. Those runs proved to be the difference.
Final score was Pennridge 6, Boyertown 4. Pennridge advances to game thirteen where they will have a tough matchup with Spring City who will be fighting for their season. Boyertown will take on Millcreek at 4pm.
By luck of the draw, the winner of the Boyertown-Millcreek game would advance to national regional play if Pennridge wins tomorrow night. If not, the second bid will be decided Saturday morning before the state championship game.
