Over the span of the last decade or so, many teams in Region 2's Bux-Mont League have made a name for themselves and the league as a whole. Hatfield and Nor-Gwyn have both won state titles (in 2002 and 2005, respectively) and Pennridge was the state runner-up last season.
Perhaps it came as no surprise that Hatfield was at the top of the league standings again after this year's regular season, but what was a bit head turning was that Pennridge and Nor-Gwyn were the final two teams to earn bids in the eight team postseason tournament. One of the greatest aspects of legion baseball is that teams get to earn their way further into the postseason on the field, and Pennridge and Nor-Gwyn are once again proving that all you need is a chance.
Two full days into the tournament, and the top two seeds in the league, Hatfield and Doylestown, have been eliminated. Pennridge, the seven seed, has won their first two games and earned a trip to tonight's winner's bracket final in Quakertown. Surprisingly, they will be the home team for that affair, as the Nor-Gwyn Hawks have rallied to win their first two tournament games as well.
In today's other action, Perkiomen will take on Warrington and Quakertown will face off against Pottstown.
