Athens shut out Mansfield/Wellsboro 6-0 to clinch the league title. Athens reached the title game by shutting out Canton 10-0 in five innings while Mansfield/Wellsboro reached the final round by topping Troy 8-5.
Athens will advance to the Region 5 Tournament to be held in Bloomsburg. Regional tournament teams will be added as berths are earned.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Nanticoke (14-2) enjoys a 1.5 game lead in the league over second place Swoyersville (11-2). Greater Pittston (9-4) currently sits in third while Valley (8-6) and Tunkhannock (9-7) are five games back. Plains (7-8 ) and Mountain Post (6-9) are 6.5 games and 7.5 games back, respectively. Rounding out the league standings are Wilkes-Barre (1-14) and Back Mountain (1-14), both teams are 12.5 games out of first.

The Region 5 Tournament, being held at Mansfield University, has completed the first two days of competition. Dickson City, representing District 11, topped Line Mountain of the Susquehanna Valley League in the tournament's opening game. Nanticoke, the Wyoming Valley League champion, posted the biggest win of the day, a 16-0 win over Berwick of the Susquehanna Valley League. Mansfield-Wellsboro defeated Athens 7-3 in the league final, claiming the league's lone bid into regionals. The team got off to a quick start at regionals, downing West Scranton in the tournament opener. The Bradford-Tioga champions didn't fare as well the rest of the way, dropping consecutive games to Swoyersville and South Scranton.

The Region 5 Tournament will begin Saturday with four games being hosted by the Wyoming Valley League.
Mansfield-Wellsboro, the Bradford-Tioga champion will open up their tournament play in the first game of the day against West Scranton, the second representative from District 11. That game will take place on the campus of Hanover High School.

Hawley and Hamlin finished off their respective semifinal series to move on to District 15's best of three championship series. Following a 5-0 win at home on Thursday evening, Hawley defeated Hamlin 6-5 on Friday night to win the series. Towanda defeated Troy 11-2 Friday evening to advance to today's final four in the Bradford-Tioga League Playoffs. They will meet Wellsboro in one semifinal, with Athens set to play in the other semifinal. Athens awaits the winner of Wyalusing and Canton in that game. The six team playoff field in Region Five's District 11 has been set. Regular season champion and top seed Valley View leads the way. Post 411 won the title by two games. The four team playoff field has been set in Region Five's District 15 League. The league, which comprises the state's northeast corner, will begin with two semifinal series. The Hawley Toros have claimed the top seed following a doubleheader sweep of Hamlin on the regular season's last day. In 2011, the Wyoming Valley League was the strongest in the Region Five Postseason. League members Plains and Back Mountain ran through the Regional Tournament at Bloomsburg, finishing as the top two teams. Although Back Mountain knocked Plains off in the Winners' Bracket Final of the tournament, Plains was better on the final day, defeating Back Mountain twice for the regional title and the trip to the State Tournament. District 11, which is located in Northeast Pennsylvania, begins play on June 2nd. The league is comprised of nine Scranton area teams and the top six will make the playoffs. Last year Green Ridge won the league title and finished with a 2-2 record at the regional tournament.
